Not just another Golden Triangle Tour: 13 Nig...

Rajasthan is a land of formidable forts and proud palaces; a land of chivalrous warrior clans; a land of hardy men with handlebar moustaches and of coy, demure women with brilliantly coloured costumes and exquisite jewellery, a land with a rich folklore of heroism and romance. While the Taj Mahal in Agra, the Red Fort in Delhi, and the City Palace and the Amber Fort in Jaipur are all impressive sights and feature on the wish list of most first time travellers to India, in visiting these sights, one remains in big bustling cities, caught up in the melee of people, jostling for space with tourists, touts and beggars, and it is easy to form an impression on India based on this alone. However, if one ventures out into the villages where the true heart of the country is, one can meet the rural population of India, and have an incredibly wonderful and at times humbling experience. The generosity of these people, who on paper may have next to nothing, is almost overwhelming. Seeing how rich their simple lives can be despite their poverty, and savouring the hospitality that they offer to any visitor to their village is truly an experience one will want to remember for long. It is also easy to rush through India ticking off sights as you go, which can leave you with an overwhelming sense of chaos. But if one slows down and gets to know an area and its people, one can have a far more rewarding journey. On this tour of Rajasthan that also takes in Delhi, the capital of modern India and Mumbai, its financial hub, you will experience the enormous contradictions and the diverse facets of its vibrant culture that go into making India what it is..

The Temples & Tribes of India Tour: 13 Nights...

The Sun Temple at Konark is worth the journey alone and yet as one travels further whether along the coast or into the central tribal areas, you will have the privilege of visiting some of the most interesting temples and isolated tribal people of the subcontinent. Many of these tribal areas are protected but one can visit the local weekly markets and interact with these fascinating people, all that we ask is that you show them respect. Due to this remoteness and subsequent lack of human intervention this is an area where one can enjoy nature's true beauty. As well as the villages and markets, where one can buy handicrafts directly from the people who make them – and some fabulous heritage properties at which you will stay – there are still stretches of virgin forests that take you back in time.

Enchanting Golden Triangle Tour: 06 Nights & ...

India's Golden Triangle comprises of the three most visited cities in the country's north-west - Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, which are all connected to each other by good roads and rail links. On the map, these form a roughly equilateral triangle, some 200-250 km along each side. This triangle has been dubbed "golden" for the extraordinary wealth of cultural and historical splendour on offer in each of the three cities.
Jaipur, capital of the largely desert state of Rajasthan, is home to some of Asia's best bazaars. You could spend weeks in Delhi, the sprawling, fascinating Indian capital, and not see it all, while Agra, once the heart of the Moghul empire, boasts of the unparalleled beauty of the Taj Mahal, which adorns the banks of the Yamuna river. The Golden Triangle is a classic introduction to India: if you've never been to the subcontinent before, start here.

The Maharajah Tour

In this extraordinary tour, we take you on a journey across two spectacular, yet completely different, worlds where you will goon a voyage of discovery to learn more about the lives the royals lived, and continue to live, the relationships they had with their people and of course experience some of the opulence that was synonymous with their time. Your journey begins in the breath-taking mountains of Ladakh, a remote region as old as time itself which was, for centuries, shut off from the world for up to seven months every winter. It is a land of spectacular scenery, landscapes, monasteries and an ancient culture which is still prevalent today. Here, every year, his Highness, Jigmed Namgyal, the 38th generational descendent of the Namgyal Royal Dynasty of Ladakh, presides over an ancient festival dating back to the 16th Century and in which little has changed. Elaborate costumes, masked dancers, oracles performing extraordinary feats all make up an incredible cultural bonanza. As a Globe Travel Centre exclusive, you will experience an ancient festival, have exclusive access to the proceedings and have a dinner personally hosted by his Highness in his 18th century palace. Your adventure will continue into Rajasthan- a land rich in its historical royal past. You will have the opportunity of staying in palaces as you go, some magnificent, some more akin to country homes, and you will meet some of the landed gentry and see how they continue to live and support the people in their locale. But in addition to this, we will also showcase the lavishness of the former lifestyles of the Maharajas, recreating some of their evenings of entertainment. You will enjoy exclusive dining in family forts, have dinners in dining rooms decorated with 45 kg of gold and have a finale of your own as befitting the lifestyle of any of the Maharajas you may have discovered.

The Great Indian Wildlife Tour

Nature tourism across many Tiger reserves is offering a whole new funding mechanism for their maintenance and protection, sometimes raising more money than their own governmental budgets. It’s giving new livelihoods and new economic opportunities for once poor rural communities bordering these forests, decreasing rural poverty. Visitors in parks deter poachers, woodchoppers and illegal grazers and brings the spotlight to bare on a host of magnificent and invaluable wildlife and wildlands that few people cared about – even a few years ago. Opening up wildlife parks has also brought exciting nature experiences to thousands of international visitors but also millions of domestic visitors too – creating a new army of passionate and local advocates for conservation and protection. By saving forests we are in fact saving much more than just their tigers. 830 million people depend on the water that tiger forests release. Forests help to mitigate the very worrying effects of climate change onthe subcontinent. If we save tigers we save whole ecosystems, millions of species and a host of other essential nature based services to millions of urban and tribal peoples including medicines, clean air, food - besides our very own wellbeing too. However, we are not out of the woods yet. We need to do more; much more. You as a visitor can help us by joining this rising tide of hope and success, by joining Globe Travel Centre on this tour. They have committed to support TOFTigers’ PUG certified nature friendly lodgings as part of your stay, and to drive sustainability through their supply chain, and supporting us in their efforts. Now we’ve done the work - you can go and enjoy this adventure in the wilds of India.

Love to be active and adventurous but roughing it not quite your style? Well, with this action-packed tour in the foothills of the Himalayas you don’t need to! Yes, there are three nights trekking in the Himalayan Foothills, and three nights in Rishikesh where you can attempt the high ropes course, trek, white water raft and of course, visit the evening aarti and yes you will get to enjoy three nights on safari in India’s most spectacular national park, Corbett. However, the twist is, you do it all in comfort. The trekking does involve two man tents but with proper cots, air mattresses, hot water bottles and most importantly, hot showers! The second stay, where you can ride the rapids of the Ganges, is at India’s first (and award winning) active hotel, rafting by day, and a comfortable bed, hot showers and a delicious meal at night. In Corbett, we have chosen our favourite, luxury yet eco-aware lodge, Jim’s Jungle Retreat. South India Tour

South India is comprised of three states, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu each of which couldn’t be more different, each having a different language (even script), culture and landscapes. Kerala’s rich exoticism stems from it’s famed backwaters, palm-fringed beaches, verdant green tea plantations, chic boutique hotels and ayurvedic spas. This beautiful state has influences from the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and Chinese who came to trade spices and ivory, to the Dutch, Portuguese and British; the Chinese fishing nets in Cochin, the Dutch forts and palaces throughout the region, the tea plantations and the cricket pitches. Wandering through Tamil Nadu it is impossible not to be astounded by the fascinating temple towns of Madurai and Tanjore, the exquisite carvings, detailing and phenomenal structures are awe inspiring, as is the devotion they still bear witness to today. In sharp contrast is Puducherry, the former French Colony which still has strong Mediterranean influences. In Karnataka discover the Mysore Palace and fabulous markets before moving on to the vast areas of protected lands and the wildlife they shelter, including tigers and elephants in Nagarhole National Park before relaxing at one of the most undiscovered beaches of the region.
