1 Colombo
Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, has a long history as a port on ancient east-west trade routes, ruled successively by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. That heritage is reflected in its its architecture, mixing colonial buildings with high-rises and shopping malls. The imposing Colombo National Museum, dedicated to Sri Lankan history, borders sprawling Viharamahadevi Park and its giant Buddha.

2 Bentota
Bentota is a resort town on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast. Its long Bentota Beach stretches north, where it becomes a sandy strip known as Paradise Island, parallel to Bentota Lagoon. Coral-rich dive sites include Canoe Rock. On Bentota River, centuries-old Galapota Temple has a large Buddha statue. Southeast is Lunuganga, the estate and gardens of architect Geoffrey Bawa. Northeast is his brother Bevis's Brief Garden.

It is located 195 km south of Colombo and 35 km east of Matara. It has a mild climate, in comparison to the rest of the district, and sandy beaches.

Detailed Itinerary

Day ONE +-
  • Day 01: Arrival Colombo -Bentota (105 km / 2.5 hr)
Welcomed by Sri Lanka Travel Centre representative at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transferred to Bentota through some very scenic routes along the western coast of the Island. On arrival check into the beautiful Taru Villas. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. In the evening enjoy a couple’s aromatherapy massage and a complimentary bottle of champagne. Overnight at the resort. (Vehicle for transfer)
Day TWO +-
  • Day 02, 03 & 04: Bentota
Enjoy three romantic and blissful days at the Villa. The pristine beach is just a short walk away through the lush green gardens. A rail track runs along the edge of the garden giving the settings an added charm. Laze on the clean white sand beaches, swim in the turquoise waters or just enjoy the luxury of the resort. Visit a turtle hatchery near the Resort where concerned locals have established protected areas of beach on which visiting turtles can lay eggs and where baby turtles can be safely returned to the water. Overnight at the resort.
Day FIVE +-
  • Day 05: Bentota – Dickoya (200 km / 5hr)
After breakfast, travel to Dickoya, located in the stunning Bogawanthalawa Valley in the hills. On arrival, check into the cosy Tea Trails Bungalows. Strategically located 4000 ft above sea level, this classic colonial bungalow which were originally built for British tea estate managers in the days of the Raj offers your breathtaking views of the hills. Enjoy the unique experience of staying on a working tea estate. Overnight at the bungalow. (Vehicle for transfer)
Day SIX +-
  • Days 06 & 07: Dickoya
Enjoy two days in the cosy surroundings of stunning tea country and experience the warm hospitality at the bungalow. You will also have the opportunity to explore the tea plantations and indulge in various activities made available in the region. The bungalows are located on working tea estates, offering a firsthand know-how about how the world’s finest tea is made: from harvesting the leaves by hand through to processing it in the nearby factories in a traditional manufacturing process that has remained unchanged for over a century. You could also enjoy activities such as white water rafting, mountain biking, guided walks and other excursions. Overnight stay at the bungalow. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day EIGHT +-
  • Day 08: Dickoya – Tangalle (200 km / 5 hr)
Check out from the bungalow and travel south to Tangalle. You will travel through some very scenic and enchanting routes of the island during this leg of your trip and enjoy views of the Bogawanthalawa Valley and the Udawalawe Reservoir. You could take a jeep safari into the Udawalawe National Park which is home to one of the Island’s largest elephant population, spotted easily because of the lack of forest cover. Travel onwards to Tangalle and on arrival check into the Amanwella Hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day NINE +-
  • Days 09, 10 & 11: Amanwella
Spend three romantic days at leisure at the beautiful boutique hotel. As the name suggests, Amanwella (derived from Aman, for “peace” in Sanskrit, and “Wella” for beach in Sinhalese) provides you the ultimate peace and luxury in the most enchanting of settings. Situated amidst a mature coconut grove fronting a crescent shaped beach close to the village of Tangalle, all of the 30 suites of this beachfront resort feature their own private plunge pool and terrace. Overnight at the resort.
Day TWELVE +-
  • Day 12: Tangalle –Galle – Colombo (130 km / 3 hr)
Leave Amanwella in the morning and proceed to Colombo. Enroute visit the City of Galle. One of Sri Lanka’s finest colonial-era showpieces this Dutch built town and the 17th century Fort of Galle offer a fascinating glimpse into the colonial past of the island. Huge bastions and ramparts enclose the quaint town with its narrow streets, old villas and offer mesmerizing sunset views across the Indian Ocean. Arrive in Colombo in the afternoon and check into the Park Street Hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Check out the vibrant night life in Colombo and explore the many discos in the city tonight. Overnight at the Resort. (Vehicle for transfer)
Day THIRTEEN +-
  • Day 13: Colombo
Today you are free to explore Colombo’s myriad offerings of shopping and dining adventures. This highly underrated city boasts the perfect union between colonial imperialism and modern sophistication and offers a thriving art scene, fantastic culinary delights and high-end brands at bargain prices. Enjoy a complimentary candle-lit dinner this evening. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
Day FOURTEEN +-
  • Day 14: Colombo – Departure (40 km / 1 hr)
Departure transfer to the airport for your return flight. (Vehicle for transfer)
