About this India itinerary

Rajasthan is often portrayed as one vast open-air museum, with its relics so well preserved that it delights even the most sceptical traveller. It's rich heritage and culture, exciting desert safaris, shimmering sand-dunes, and amazing variety of and wildlife - make it a destination nonpareil. Rajasthan is called 'The Golden Triangle of India', Rajasthan is a region of great passion and a venerable history. It is a landscape of formidable forts and grand palaces that rise from the harsh soil, of proud warrior clans, men with fierce moustaches and demure women, the land of brilliantly coloured fabrics and exquisite jewellery, and a region with a rich folklore of heroism and romance. With Aravallis, India's oldest mountain range as a backdrop, safaris go out on horses, camels and in jeeps. Feast your eyes on spectacular sand-dunes, take the tiger trail, or just watch the birds in the wetlands. You can also choose to pamper yourself in the lavish heritage properties. Rajasthan has something for everyone.

Everything below is a sample. Our India team will stretch it, shorten it, swap the hotels up or down a category and build the days around what you actually want to do.

October to March, the sweet spot

Most of India is at its best from October to March, when the monsoon has cleared and the days are dry and warm. April to June is hot across the plains but ideal for the Himalaya, and the south-west monsoon from June to September brings heavy rain, deep green landscapes and the lowest prices of the year.
