Cochin, or Kochi as it is now called, is divided into Old Cochin (comprising Fort Cochin and Mattanchery) and Ernakulam, which is a bustling metropolis and is considered the commercial capital of Kerala. 7 Cochin International Airport - Nedumbassery

Cochin International Airport, Cochin (IATA: COK,ICAO, VOCI) is an international airport serving the city of Kochi, in the state of Kerala, India. Located at Nedumbassery, about 25 kilometres (16 mi) northeast of the city, Cochin International Airport is the first airport in India developed under a public-private-partnership (PPP) model and was funded by nearly 10,000 non-resident Indians from 30 countries

It is the busiest and largest airport in the state of  Kerala. As of 2019, the Cochin International Airport caters to 61.8% of the total air passenger movement in Kerala. It is also the fourth busiest airport in India in terms of international traffic and eighth busiest overall. In fiscal year 2018-19, the airport handled more than 10.2 million passengers with a total of 71,871 aircraft movements.The airport is a primary base for Air India Express operations which is also headquartered in the city.

The airport operates three passenger terminals and one cargo terminal. With over 150,000 square metres (1,614,587 sq ft) in area, the airport's Terminal 3 is one of the largest terminals in India.On 18 August 2015, Cochin International Airport became the world's first fully solar powered airport with the inauguration of a dedicated solar plant. On 26 July 2018, the airport was selected for the coveted Champion of the Earth award, the highest environmental honor instituted by the United Nations.

Detailed Itinerary

Day ONE +-
  • Arrival Cochin

You will be welcomed by a Globe Travel Centre representative at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Kochi, as it is called now, offers you the best of history and culture anywhere in the state.

A port town since early centuries Cochin attracted traders and invaders from the world over. One can see snippets of the different eras and influences in the many attractions in Cochin. The place is broadly divided into two areas- Ernakulam which is a bustling cosmopolitan metropolis and Fort Cochin which is the cultural hub where the hotel is located.

Step out of the hotel and you are within walking distance of other attractions like the Chinese fishing nets, said to have been left behind by Chinese traders in the 15th century.

This  evening , enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise. Overnight at the Dutch Bungalow.

Day TWO +-
  •  Cochin

Enjoy  a sightseeing tour of Cochin today which will include - The Jewish Synagogue in what is locally called the Jew Town, St. Francis Church which is the oldest European Church in India, the Santa Cruz Basilica built in 1557 by the Portuguese, the Dutch Palace, the Spice market and the 15th century Chinese fishing nets believed to have been brought by Chinese traders.

In the evening, visit an auditorium to watch the famous dance drama of Kerala, the Kathakali. This dance is characterised by some great story telling, amazing costumes and extensive make-up.

Day THREE +-
  • Cochin - Kothamangalam (60 KM / 1.5 HRS)




Drive to Kothamangalam and spend the afternoon at leisure in a century-old estate bungalow set in over 100 acres of multi-crop plantation. Apart from exploring the estate, you will visit the local bird sanctuary and can participate in cooking demonstrations involving authentic Kerala cuisine. 
Overnight at the Estate Bungalow with full board and a vehicle at your disposal.

Day FOUR +-
  •   Kothamangalam – Munnar (90 KM / 3 HRS)

Drive to Munnar a hill station located 1600 meters above sea level.

Once the summer resort of the erstwhile British administration in South India it still retains its colonial charm and is famous for its tea plantations, most of which are privately owned.

With its sprawling estates, rolling hills, sparkling waterfalls, picture postcard hamlets and undulating valleys, Munnar is an ideal holiday destination.

Check into your hotel and unwind. Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the ambience of Munnar.

Day FIVE +-
  •  Munnar

Enjoy a visit tea museum, take a short trip to the Eravikulam National Park (home to the endangered Nilgiri Thar mountain goat amongst others) or simply walk through the enchanting tea estates and enjoy the tranquillity it provides.

Day SIX +-
  •  Munnar - Periyar (110 KM / 4 HRS)

Today morning after the breakfast, proceed to Periyar - an area known for its undulating hills, spice plantations, and elephant sightings. One of the 27 tiger reserves in India, the Periyar valley in Thekkady is the oldest. Check into your hotel, and go on a spice plantation tour where you will be enticed by the aroma of spices. 

Today, you will have the option of going for an escorted jungle trek or taking a boat ride around the lake.

Day SEVEN +-
  • Periyar – Kumarakom – Houseboat (135 Km / 3 ½ h, )

Drive to Kumarakom, embark on your private houseboat and cruise on the Backwaters, a splendid area full of canals, lakes and coves. Your houseboats or ‘Kettuvalloms’ are converted rice barges with well-appointed bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. You can sunbathe on the deck or observe the palm fringed landscape from your cabins. Apart from the mesmerizing surroundings, it’s the life along the coast that adds a touch of the exotic to this experience.

The locals’ travel in canoes and you will find vegetable sellers, fishermen and other traders bringing household goods, door to door in small wooden boats. As you cruise along the backwaters you can ask your captain to stop at villages, paddy fields and other places, en route. Overnight on board. (Full Board)

Day EIGHT +-
  • Houseboat – Mararikulam (45 minutes

Disembark from your houseboat at Alleppey and drive to the picturesque fishermen’s village of Mararikulam and check into your resort. Tucked away inside quiet and lush coconut groves, this resort set by the pristine white-sand beaches of Marari offers you unparalleled quite in astoundingly beautiful settings.

In the evening enjoy a general Ayurvedic full body massage. Overnight at the Beach Resort.
