About this Sri Lanka itinerary

This tour has been specially designed to cater for families who want to share in the adventure and discovery that Sri Lanka offers to all ages of travellers. Ideal for families with kids above the age of 10, the tour's highlights include; visit to fishing villages, boat rides, a stiff climb to the top of the Sigiriya Rock fortress, national parks, tea plantation and factory visits amongst others.

Where you'll visit

Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, has a long history as a port on ancient east-west trade routes, ruled successively by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. That heritage is reflected in its its architecture, mixing colonial buildings with high-rises and shopping malls. The imposing Colombo National Museum, dedicated to Sri Lankan history, borders sprawling Viharamahadevi Park and its giant Buddha.

December to April, the sweet spot

Sri Lanka has two monsoons that hit different coasts, which is why the island works all year. The south-west monsoon brings rain to the west and south from May to September, while the north-east monsoon soaks the east from November to February. For the classic route through the Cultural Triangle, hill country and southern beaches, December to April is the sweet spot.
