The short answer
The cost of a tailor made India trip depends mostly on your hotels, how you travel between places, how much private guiding you want and when you go. Flights from the UK are separate and vary by season.
What sets the price
Three things move the number: where you sleep, how you travel between places, and how much private guiding you want.
Heritage properties and small palace hotels cost less than their equivalents in Europe and are usually the memory people keep.
Internal flights save days on long routes. Trains are cheaper and often better company. We mix both.
The main costs
Hotels
The biggest share of most trips. India has everything from simple homestays to palace hotels. Heritage hotels often give the best value for character.
Transport
A private car and driver is the most common choice. Trains suit some routes and domestic flights save time on long distances.
Guiding
Private guides at major sites add a lot. Many travellers use a guide in cities and explore alone in quieter places.
Season
Christmas, New Year and Diwali are the most expensive times. Shoulder months and the monsoon cost less.
Ways to get better value
Travel in the shoulder months. Spend more nights in fewer places. Mix one or two special hotels with comfortable smaller stays. Use trains where they work well. Ask us where the money makes the most difference.
Our adviceSplurge on the hotel where you will spend the most time, not the one you leave at dawn.
What is usually included
Our quotes normally include hotels, breakfast, private transfers and drivers, the guiding and activities we have agreed, and local support during your trip. We tell you clearly what is not included, such as flights, visas, insurance, some meals and tips.
An honest quote
Globe Travel Centre has been planning trips since 2006, and our Kerala office has 20 years of experience in South India. We would rather show you two or three options than one fixed price, so you can see what changes the cost.
