Why stay at Old Harbour Hotel
In the heart of Fort Cochin is the Old Harbour Hotel, a 300 year old building that has for long been a heritage monument and now re-opened as a boutique hotel. Built in the Dutch style of architecture with hints of Portuguese influences, it was the first hotel in old Cochin. The interior of the hotel is an eclectic blend of dated furniture and varied art that juxtapose to create a unique style. The rooms are plush with high ceilings and either look into a courtyard with a fountain or over the ancient Chinese fishing nets.

Elegant reconstructed 1880s Catholic church originally built by the Portuguese in the 1500s.

Built by the Portuguese in 1557 as a gift to the ruler of Kochi, the palace was renovated by the Dutch in 1663 and oddly is named after the Dutch.
- St. Francis Church
Built in 1503 by the Portuguese, this is India’s oldest European church. Vasco Da Gama was buried here in 1524 before his remains were moved to Portugal. The tombstone still remains.
- Chinese Fishing Nets
These huge 15th century cantilevered fishing nets are the legacy of Chinese traders. These nets are set up on teak wood and bamboo poles and you can watch the nets being lowered by the fishermen from the Vasco Da Gama square along the beach.
