One of our core ideologies is to be a planet-friendly business that protects and conserves the environment. We realise that long-haul travel businesses are guilty of leaving a negative carbon footprint, and each day we work on new initiatives to counter that impact and set examples for sustainable practice.
We're convinced that buying carbon offsets is not an effective way to counter the core problem of CO₂ emissions caused by long-haul flights. Instead of buying offsets for customers, we focus on carbon reduction initiatives, and we plant trees.
Under our One Traveller One Tree campaign, we plant a tree every time a client travels with us. Each tree bears your personal signature, we tag it with your name, and in due course you receive a certificate and the geo-location of the tree, so you can watch it grow.
In India
Globe Travel Centre has undertaken to develop forest cover on three acres of land. Our current efforts have begun to restore the ecosystem balance in the region, and we are seeing many species of birds return.
Our mission is to offer responsible, sustainable and meaningful holidays that not only have a long-term impact on the destinations we offer but also make the travel experience one that is life-changing for our clients. Our policy aims to:
Besides providing the best holiday experiences, we want our business to truly and tangibly benefit the destinations we offer. We have a policy that for every client who books a holiday with us, we donate from our profits towards specific projects at the destination. Clients who are interested can also hand over the donation in person while on holiday, making it a fulfilling part of their trip.
Our brochures run to more than 200 pages each and use a lot of trees. We made a conscious decision to produce them on 100% recycled paper. We use recycled paper at our offices and adopt processes that minimise waste.
Back in 2010, we launched an initiative to clean and maintain the beach near the Chinese fishing nets in Fort Cochin, employing a local team to keep the area clean. After a pause we have relaunched the campaign, this time with local hotel partners, to keep the area in the condition it deserves.
