Where you'll visit

Cochin, or Kochi as it is now called, is divided into Old Cochin (comprising Fort Cochin and Mattanchery) and Ernakulam, which is a bustling metropolis and is considered the commercial capital of Kerala. It is the only district in Kerala where you can experience urban comforts on a par with other major cities in India and also the history of many centuries bygone.

Day by day

Your itinerary, day by day

You will be greeted at the airport with a traditional welcome by the Kerala Travel Centre team and escorted to Cochin to check into the Brunton Boatyard hotel overlooking the sea. Cochin, also known as the Spice Coast of India, has been a port town since early centuries, attracting traders and invaders from all over the world. Needless to say, Cochin offers you some fascinating snippets of history and culture. The town is broadly divided into two areas - Ernakulam, the bustling cosmopolitan metropolis, and Fort Cochin, the cultural hub where the hotel is located. Step out of the hotel and you are within walking distance of the sea and other attractions like the Chinese fishing nets, said to have been left behind by Chinese traders in the 15th century. Relax and unwind at the hotel on your first day in India.

October to March, the sweet spot

Kerala is at its best from October to March, when the rain has cleared, the backwaters are full and the coast is dry. April and May are hot and humid but quiet, and the south-west monsoon from June to September brings heavy afternoon rain, deep green hills and the lowest prices of the year. Many Ayurveda guests deliberately choose the monsoon, when the treatments are considered most effective.
