Cochin, or Kochi as it is now called, is divided into Old Cochin (comprising Fort Cochin and Mattanchery) and Ernakulam, which is a bustling metropolis and is considered the commercial capital of Kerala. It is the only district in Kerala where you can experience urban comforts on a par with other major cities in India and also the history of many centuries bygone.
You'll be welcomed by a Kerala Travel Centre representative at the airport and transferred to your hotel in Cochin. Often referred to as the spice capital of the world, Cochin's spice trade can be traced back to the time of the pharaohs and the pyramids. As you walk the streets of Cochin, you can smell the aroma of these spices wafting in the breeze. Check into your hotel, relax for a while, and as the dusk falls, go on an enchanting sunset cruise to glimpse the city silhoutted against a starlit sky.

April and May are hot and humid but quiet, and the south-west monsoon from June to September brings heavy afternoon rain, deep green hills and the lowest prices of the year. Many Ayurveda guests deliberately choose the monsoon, when the treatments are considered most effective.
